The 4 forms every site gets wrong

Sign-up, contact, checkout, and search. Four forms, four common failures, four small fixes.

Every site has four forms. Most sites get all four wrong in the same predictable ways. The fixes are small.

Sign-up

Failure: asking for everything. Fix: ask only for the email. Everything else after they're inside.

Contact

Failure: a generic "Subject" dropdown that lists ten options the visitor doesn't relate to. Fix: a single "Tell us about your project" textarea. Skip the field if it doesn't change how the message gets routed.

Checkout

Failure: forced account creation. Guest checkout converts measurably higher. Offer the account at the end, after payment, when the friction is over.

Search

Failure: returning zero results for typos. Fix: fuzzy matching on day one. We've seen sites lose 5% of conversions because their search couldn't handle a missing apostrophe.

The pattern

Every form failure is the same failure: asking for more than the visitor is willing to give in this moment. Fix that one thing across all four forms and conversion moves.
